Description
A new one in my collection (Rooted in early 2022) although it’s rumored to be identical to i258 I will have to wait until it produces and I taste it to know for sure. Said to be an outstanding fig with a sweet, rich flavour and a fig honey, syrupy texture. Fruits are medium to large size with a dark strawberry pulp and a bluish skin. If it’s identical to i258 then “It just explodes with flavour” enthused one fig lover. Many say this is one of the best.
Here is a video of my i258 which is supposed to be either very close or the same.
Some fig growers claim that Genovese Nero is identical to a variety called Italian 258 or I258 for short whic is a medium to large sized purple and green fig with a deep red interior that gives B.M. a run for it’s money in flavour but gives an earlier crop. Along with it’s figgy flavour, this sweet juicy fig has flavour hints of citrus and passion fruit.
Said to have been imported to California from Italy in the 1980’s this delicious fig made it’s way to our collection and is available for you to enjoy.
