Description
i258 is a top tier fig that is frequently compared to Black Madeira which is regarded as one of the best tasting common figs. The advantage you get here is this fig ripens quicker that some of the other highly regarded figs, so you get to enjoy it even in colder climates. Definitely a must have fig for me. The mother tree is producing figs that have a pool of fig honey inside the flavour is incredible.
Italian 258 or I258 for short is a medium to large sized purple and green fig with a deep red interior gives B.M. a run for it’s money in flavour but gives an earlier crop. Along with it’s figgy flavour, this sweet juicy fig has flavour hints of citrus and passion fruit.
Said to have been imported to California from Italy in the 1980’s this delicious fig made it’s way to our collection and is available for you to enjoy. Some fig growers claim that this fig is identical to a variety called Genovese Nero.
